Truthfully, I only watched the 4th episode XD

Dori played the role as a little snob kid named Tsuchiya Teppei. Being so arrogant as a city kid, he looked down at people at the island, including Fujisawa Ruri (Narumi Riko).

Dori's act in this episode was still far from good. Well he's still 14 years old back in 2005.
With a monotone voice and expressionless face. Seriously. LOL.

Tsuchiya did everything to irritate people around him, especially Ruri.
He thought island people live on rain water, he rudely called an old lady a "dead creature", said Ruri's dress is ugly. After dinner he deliberately threw curry on Ruri's new white clothes, and while Ruri tried to wash away the stains, he came back with muddy hands and rubbed them to Ruri's already dirtied dress.
This time, Ruri lost her temper and wanted to slap him. But before she did that, the female teacher who saw everything slapped Tsuchiya on his left cheek and said, "Being mean is completely different from being mischievous."

But Tsuchiya did not stop there. He plotted a revenge against the teacher.
At night he and his friend planned to run away so when people noticed they were missing, the teacher will be the one to blame.
He even threatened to punch a little girl who accidentally found out about their plan (aww.. Dori you so mean).

But the plan didn't go smoothly, Tsuchiya fell over the cliff but his friend managed to run back to the village. Ruri came to help Tsuchiya but ended up falling too. Their fate now hanging on the loose roots they were holding with their might.

Their lives were in danger, Tsuchiya took the opportunity to apologize and tell the truth, that he himself born in this island. The island was not so convenient to his family so they moved off from this island and left Tsuchiya's grandpa alone.
His grandpa finally died several years later, with none of his family care to come to his funeral. So when Tsuchiya's school held a tour back to his home island, Tsuchiya got frustrated and unleashed it to Ruri and people on the island. He told Ruri, "If this island had not been so inconvenient, we all could have lived here. My grandfather had not had to die alone. That's why I don't like this island." He paused. "I mean... I didn't like it. So... I'm sorry."

Not for long, the village people came and saved them.
Before Tsuchiya left the village, he gave his lucky charm to Ruri, a Shiisa keychain. (Shiisa = a lion-shaped roof ornament of Okinawa) ^^


Random note:
In Ruri no Shima Special (2007), another AMUSE member, Ryunosuke Kamiki, was casted as Miyahara Shion, a 2nd leading role.
